Spiritual & Inspirational Sunday

Welcome to the second quote for Spiritual & Inspirational Sunday. For the past 25 years, I have collected quotes that inspired me. These quotes may be of a religious, spiritual, relationship, sports, or business nature My hope is the weekly quote will resonate with you causing you to pause for a minute and reflect. Perhaps you will share it with that person who is in need of reading this very quote.

“The most important

conversations I will ever have

are the ones I have with myself,

about myself.”

What I have learned through the years is to make sure the thoughts that occupy my mind are positive and healthy. None of that stinkin thinkin! I need to control the conversation that goes on between my own two ears. If I find myself obsessing over some person, place, or thing, then I need to replace those thoughts by making a list of those things for which I am grateful or making a list of my positive qualities.

Please leave a comment telling me how this particular quote resonated with you and/or share your favorite quote.  Blessings.  …susan

Source: I heard this from John DeFoore in the early 1980’s, an incredible man from Boerne, Texas. I am not sure if it originated with him or if he borrowed it from another person.

I like your attitude!! I'm a real "dweller" -- I focus too much on negative things. I need to focus more on the positive!!

Thanks for the inspirational quote and for sharing how you've applied it to your way of thinking :-)

I haven't been able to control the voices in my head, but I have become better at ignoring the nasty ones!
Have a wonderful Sunday, Susan.

It is so hard for me to not beat myself up or beat others up in my mind. I constantly struggle with perfectionism in myself and others to a level that can be unhealthy. I try each day to remember that it is important to be positive and loving and to understand that I'm my own worst critic. Thanks for the quote. It's good to remind ourselves now and then ... hope you had a wonderful mommy's day!

Hi Susan :)

I love that quote! I have conversations with myself all the time about some event or another and need to remember that it's just my doubt and worry talking.

I hope you're enjoying your grand-kids and that you had a beautiful Mother's Day. Praying for your daughter's speedy recovery!

Boy Susan- you should hear the conversations I have with myself while mowing the grass, doing the dishes, vacuuming... the louder the chore, the louder the voices are in my head! Love this quote... Love you! Hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day.

I too collect quotes.

In our half bath I have the quotes
"Reach for the stars, you might not get them, but you won't wind up with a handful of mud." " I used to think my parents wise and full of knowledge ~ now that I have children, I know they made a lot of it up, partly to keep from going crazy." Mom did the writing free hand above my chair rail.

"Lick the spoon" is above the pantry in my kitchen.

"Every picture tells a story..." is framed above some pictures in a small hallway.

Have you ever looked at the story people site. Brian Andreas has some fun works.

I have a journal that contains a lot of my favorite says.

Thanks for reminding us to think positive. Attitude does make a difference. Sometimes it is the only thing we can change.
