Hey there! I am joining Julia’s Hooked on Friday blog party because I am Hooked on Staircase Railing! Click here to join the party and see what other bloggers are hooked on! She usually starts the party between 9:00-10:00 on Thursday night. Thanks Julia!
Welcome to Staircase Railing Part One of a four or five part series! If you are in the process of designing your dream home and don’t know what type of staircase railing you want to use, then scroll on down and see if one of these tickles your fancy. If you don’t find it here, there will be several more posts in this series and perhaps the one you want will be in one of those.
This post is a collection of staircase railing (sometimes called balustrade) using iron for the newel, spindles or balusters, and handrail. The designs range from frilly to traditional as wells as simple or contemporary. Perhaps there is an element in one of the photos that appeals to you and that can be your starting place. Enjoy the beauty of the staircase railing as well as the home in which it lives. …susan

Thanks for the kind comments regarding the death of my grand-dog. I am most appreciative.

Lovely! I was hooked on stairway banisters a couple of weeks ago. It's nice to meet someone who is as fascinated by them as I am. Thank you for sharing so many photographs! ~Arleen
ReplyDeleteThese are so good and they'll last for 100's of years. We have the simplest iron rail. It's not a place that shows off. But it has a subtle shape that feels comfortable, cool, and rock solid every time. The builders were planning on a simple wooden rail. This is 100% better, less expensive, installed in half the time.
ReplyDeleteSo many railings, not enough stairs! Number 3 (shot) is very "me", but I would have to go with plain and simple, they are simply grand! Thanks for visual inspiration, Susan.

Fantastic gallery of iron staircases! I love them all. I tried to choose a favorite and couldn't. They're all beautiful.
ReplyDeleteSo happy you joined my blog party this week, Susan! Have a wonderful weekend. :-)
Wow amazing post on staircases! I appreciate the time it takes to collect those images! Thank you so much! Thanks for your lovely comments on my blog!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed this post, and am sorry for your loss. I have a Jack, and that is what I worry about the most.
ReplyDeleteSo many great railing designs!! Thanks for sharing :-)
ReplyDeleteMy hubby and I are going to build and install new railings in our house. I'm working on designing the newel posts, and then hopefully hubby will get to work!! Till then, I'm crossing my fingers that nobody falls off the stairs or through the big holes in the floors!!
It looks like you've switched to Windows Live Writer -- isn't it better than writing your posts in Blogger?? :-)

What a great and comprehensive collection of staircases!
ReplyDeleteFunny, but after being in a house with a large staircase this past weekend, I have come to the conclusion that I REALLY like rambling ranches better (can't believe I would EVER say that!)
Beautiful! They make such an impact and will last forever. Thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteA fantastic collection of stairs and railings. Loving all the wrought iron!
ReplyDeleteYou inspired me to join in the fun over at Hooked on Houses ... and because I am feeling unoriginal today I played on your idea ... Thanks for the lovely pics of the staircases. :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pictures! The ironwork in a few remind me of movies in the 20s & 30s ... lovely :)

beautiful pics...I would love to see a follow-up on how people decorate the landings and stairwells...I can't decide if I'm truly happy with what I've done in my little stair alcove, and am always looking for other's ideas!
ReplyDeleteI loved the railings, but could not get enough of the entry designs,at the bottom of the staircases.
ReplyDeleteThey really are all quiet stunning..., I think I favor the black iron ones.
ReplyDeleteIron has made its name through Spiral Stairs

And the way they designed. I just luved it
I like the frilly ornamental iron spiral stairs. It looks good as it is even without extra ornaments.
